Lupus is an autoimmune disease characterised by chronic inflammatory processes that can damage many organs and tissues in the body – for example, joints, skin, kidneys, heart, blood vessels, lungs and brain. The female sex hormone oestrogen plays an important role in the onset and development of this disease. Because of this, lupus is also significantly more common in women than in men, and it usually breaks out in women of childbearing age, when estrogen levels are highest. Therefore, nutrients and herbs with an anti-estrogenic effect are suitable. It is also important to focus on fighting inflammation and supporting the gut microbiome.
